Malaria Prevention & Control

LERN coordinates evidence-based malaria prevention and control interventions across the 8 counties of the Lake Endemic Region. Member organisations implement community-level strategies targeting malaria transmission through distribution of long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs), community education, and integrated case management at the household and facility level.

Key Focus Areas

HIV & TB Integration

LERN supports integrated HIV and TB responses that strengthen community health systems and expand treatment access. Member CSOs address barriers to HIV testing, treatment adherence, and TB case finding across the Lake Endemic Region, with a focus on key and vulnerable populations.

Key Focus Areas

Community Systems Strengthening

LERN builds resilient local structures that support effective, accountable, and sustainable health service delivery. This includes strengthening community health volunteer networks, community-based organisations, and local accountability mechanisms across all 8 counties.

Key Focus Areas

Resilient & Sustainable Health Systems (RSSH)

LERN advances sustainable health systems by supporting financing, infrastructure, and supply chain improvements across the Lake Endemic Region. Member organisations advocate for increased domestic health financing and work to address systemic barriers to equitable health service delivery.

Key Focus Areas

Community-Led Monitoring (CLM)

LERN empowers communities to track, evaluate, and influence the quality and impact of health programmes through structured community-led monitoring approaches. CLM data is used to strengthen accountability between communities, service providers, and government, and to drive evidence-based programme improvements.

Key Focus Areas

Human Rights, Gender & Equity

LERN mainstreams rights-based and gender-responsive approaches across all programme areas, ensuring interventions reach the most vulnerable and marginalised populations. This programme promotes social inclusion, challenges discriminatory norms, and ensures equitable access to health services for all communities.

Key Focus Areas

Advocacy, Policy & Domestic Resource Mobilisation

LERN influences health policy, mobilises domestic resources, and amplifies community voices in decision-making at county, national, and regional levels. Member organisations engage government, donors, and other stakeholders to increase investment in malaria elimination and community-led health systems.

Key Focus Areas

Community-led, people-centered interventions bridging the gap in malaria response across the Lake Endemic Region of Kenya.
